Ancient Bagan Myanmar / Burma
Inspired by the sight of the thousands of temples and stupas of this ancient city and a tribute to the wonderful people I met when living in Myanmar/Burma

About my Paintings
Serengeti Awakes
I had lived in Africa for over 10 years but this was my first day in the Serengeti and a dream come true.
The painting entered an annual show and competition, sponsered by Shell UK. It did not win anything but it was highly commended. Another painting I had entered was not mentioned but sold on the first day. "Serengeti Awakes" was not sold and, apart from on my website portfolio, I have never shown it again; maybe I want to keep it for myself.

Ole Patei - Keeper of Tradition
Painting people is more rewarding when I know something about them. Most persons in my paintings had a story which I wanted to espress:
Lekoko, a young Maasai at Ngorongoro, one day before he left for secondary school. He had to cut his hair and discard all his adornments. I felt how difficult this was for him.
When Lekoko returned during his school breaks, I found him even more distressed. He had to dress in his traditional way to be accepted in the village and by his father and he was not doing too well at school. A young man caught between two worlds with his dream to become a safari guide.
